I spent 4 years of my life in New York City and only cooked 3 meals myself. Consequently, I got to know the restaurants in my area quite well. Whenever I moved to a new area, I used to walk the streets looking for every takeout menu I could find. But, once restaurants started to move online, that chore was no longer necessary. Instead I started relying on some of these tools. The tools I used to find my favorites are listed in this tab. They should work for most major cities. Good luck finding the best in your area.

Menu Pages - Hungry with nothing in the fridge but too tired to go out? This source offers the best delivery options in your city. I've used MenuPages for years, in NYC, Boston and San Francisco. Although they don't have menus for every restaurant or city, I have often found it useful for most of my go-to takeout options.

See ratings and reviews for all your favorite restaurants, and vote for your own favorites. My favorite incarnation of this site is their mobile app. I open their mobile app choose type of food and price range and then shake the iPhone, and Urbanspoon quickly finds me a good option. If I don't like the fist option, I just shake my phone again, and see their next suggestion.
